Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum

Russian President Vladimir Putin, when addressing the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, proposed to merge the Supreme Court and the Supreme Commercial Court of Russia into a single court, and to make amendments to the Russian Constitution for this purpose:

“For the purposes of ensuring uniform approaches to the resolution of disputes with participation of both citizens and organizations, as well as disputes with the bodies of State power and bodies of local self-government I propose to merge the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Commercial Court, for which it will be necessary to make amendments to the Constitution of Russia. The issue is a serious one, it will be necessary to think everything out and ponder it over carefully”.
