The State Duma adopts the law on constitutional amendments

The speed of legislative procedure was unprecedented

The lower chamber of Russian Parliament has adopted the presidential draft law in its final (third) reading without any changes and at an unprecedented pace - less than two weeks have passed between the first and the final readings. 346 votes for and 95 against (the group of the Communist party). Remarkably, the details of the future structure of the single supreme court have been proposed by Kremlin and, accordingly, communicated to the members of the State Duma just the day before final voting.

It is expected that the Council of the Federation (the upper chamber of Parliament) will approve the constitutional amendments next week - probably, in a unanimous voting.
