Dissents in the Russian Constitutional Court are prohibited from being published

President Vladidmir Putin signed into law a bill which prohibits Constitutional Court judges from publishing their dissents, even concurring opinions; it goes as far as making it illicit for judges to refer publicly to their disagreents expressed during deliberations in court room and mentioning the fact of split voting.

This bill suppressing judicial dissents gave rise to much criticism within judicial and academic circles. Here are the links to:

- various opinions on this law published in October 2020 issue of Zakon law journal;

- an interview by Dr Alexander Vereshchagin which discusses the merits of judicial dissents.

Both texts are available in Russian only.
